Take The 'A' Train

The Duke Ellington Orchestra recorded the jazz classic
"Take The 'A' Train" for the first time in 1941 on this day!

Here is a video of the DEO performing the song in 1943:

The Beatles also released the song "Eight Days A Week"
on this very day in music history, as well!

Hope all of the students and staff have a great vacation!

Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever

On this day in music history, The Beatles released the single,
"Penny Lane," backed by "Strawberry Fields Forever."

I'm unable to post the official video of "Penny Lane" (it's
just the song with an album image) but here is a link to it:

This is the official video for "Strawberry Fields Forever."

It Was 50 Years Ago Today...

The Beatles recorded their very first album, Please Please Me,
in just 12 hours! That is just not possible anymore... or is it?

2-Hour Delay

We'll miss a few music classes, but everything else is a go!

MY Music Teacher...

My former high school music teacher (concert band, marching
band, pit band and jazz band) surprised me at a recent gig at
FPAC/FSPA in downtown Franklin by being there to support me!
It has been nearly thirty years since the last time I saw him!

Welcome to Music With Mr. Barrett! I am so happy that you stopped by today for a visit! I have a lot here for you to check out- Chorus, Newsletters, Concert Information, Music (of course!), and much MUCH more! Browse for as long as you like and feel free to come back often! I am always updating this blog (website) and I post something new just about every day! It is here for YOU!!!
