Andres Segovia

Andres Segovia was born on February 21st, 1893 – 121 years ago today. No other guitarist in the 20th century worked so tirelessly to make the guitar a respectable instrument (up until the middle of the century it was still considered a novelty by many musicians). Segovia’s force of will, and immense talent, made sure the world listened up and took notice of the possibilities of the instrument. And his mastery of the guitar is, to this day, unrivalled. Here’s to the memory of Andres.
