Staff Music Celebrities!

Jefferson Elementary Staff:

Mrs. Ashley (Principal)- Piano and Clarinet

I took piano and clarinet lessons when I was younger, and I also participated in Chorus and Choir when I was in school. For music to listen to, I enjoy Rock, Classical, and Show Tunes. My favorite band is the rock band U2 and my favorite song is a song by U2 called "Beautiful Day."

Ms. Klim (Assistant Principal)- Clarinet

In the past, I've participated in 7th and 8th grade chorus and I also played the clarinet in the 5th and 6th grade band. I did hip-hop and jazz dance in high school. I love all kinds of music, so it's hard to give a favorite song/artist. This is a fun fact about me that not many people know, I do love to sing but don't like singing in front of an audience.

Ms. Muller (2nd Grade Teacher)

Mr. Chelman (3rd Grade Teacher)- Piano

I always danced growing up. My family is very musical and I grew up appreciating all types of music. My grandfather was a professional musician in the Buffalo Symphony! He played the violin & trumpet. I learned to play the violin in 4th-6th grade, but was much better at using my voice as an instrument. I was in chorus from then until my senior year of high school and played Maria in our high school's production of “The Sound of Music!” I still use song and dance as a way to engage my first graders every day!
Ms. Dengos

Mrs. Winterroth (1st Grade Teacher)- Piano

When I was a little girl, I took private music lessons for about 5 years until my mother got tired of fighting with me to practice. Most of my lessons were on how to read music. Now I wish I had taken more lessons and practiced more. I have taken some lessons as an adult. As an adult, I learn about using chords in music and I have played with that. I play for my own pleasure. I enjoy most music.

Mrs. Doherty (Fourth Grade Teacher)- Guitar, Clarinet

I took lessons in piano, drums, guitar and clarinet when I was a kid. Mrs. Schoen was my teacher! I used to play the clarinet, but I am out of practice! I still play the guitar! I was in band from 4th to 8th grade! My favorite musical artist is Bruce Springsteen! My favorite kind of music to listen to is soundtracks of musicals! I love to participate in Family Sing-Alongs! I love music!

I danced for 18 years (tap, jazz, ballet) and got to travel to compete in places like a cruise ship, Magic Kingdom, and New York.

I played the flute in band in middle school and high school.

My favorite genre is country music and I like Carrie Underwood.

-Ms. Leary (5th Grade Teacher)

I grew up playing the piano (all the way until high school).

Ms. Tangney

Mr. Barrett (Music Teacher)- Piano, Clarinet, Guitar, Voice

Davis Thayer Staff:

Mrs. Christopoulos (P.E. Teacher)- Piano, Flute

I played flute in middle school band and then the piano in middle school Jazz band.

Ms. Christopoulos

Mrs. Taylor (First Grade Teacher)-

I enjoy listening to pop and folk music. My favorite musical artist is Ray LaMontagne and my favorite music to listen to is the soundtrack to "The Wizard of Oz!" I think that "Music Class is the best!"

Ms. Schomberg-

Elementary Orchestra - Violin

High School Orchestra - Trumpet

Currently take lessons and play the drums

Favorite bands/singers: Bon Jovi, Elton John, Abba, Aerosmith, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Adele

Favorite song/songs: Come Sail Away (Styx), Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen), The Chain (Fleetwood Mac) - to name just a few!!!

Mrs. Siciliano (3rd Grade Teacher)- High School Chorus

I enjoy listening to Pop and Classical music, and I like to participate in Family Sing-Alongs! When I was in high school, I used to compete with my High School Chorus!

I have no photographic evidence but I was in a church choir and musicals all through school.  My most memorable singing role was as the back half of a horse in a musical rendition of St George and the Dragon!

Eve Berne, MS, CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Davis Thayer Elementary School

I played the viola from 4th grade to 9th grade (I only quit in high school because I had to choose between art and music!).  I also was a tap dancer from preschool to high school!

My favorite type of music right now is Country Music, and I love Keith Urban!

Ms. Doherty

Even though I don't play any instrument now or sing, I did do the following in high school:

I played the flute in the marching band and concert band.  I also sang in chorus, and even was part of the musical Carousel!

Mrs. Maiato

Here is my info:

*  Favorite singer of all time is Bob Seger, with best song being Turn the Page.
*  I played the clarinet in middle school, but not successfully.
*  My one and only stage appearance was playing Ado Annie in Oklahoma, which was probably the best character of all time to be able to play.
*  I am a sucker for musical movies and know every single word to every song in Grease, Mamma Mia, Pitch Perfect and Joyful Noise.
