Fall '22 Newsletter

Welcome back to a great new musical year! I am very excited to begin my 24th year as a music educator in Franklin! (I started in the fall of 1999!) As always, my music newsletters (and anything else music newsworthy!) can be found online at http://musicwithmrbarrett.blogspot.com/. For anyone who is not able to access this newsletter, I will be happy to print it out and send a copy of it home with your children. Also, if you are more comfortable reading in another language, scroll down to the bottom of any page and select another language under the translate tab!

Well, it's nice to start our school year off a little more closer to 'home,' and how we used to do it! (We can sing and play instruments again!!!)

All of the students at Jefferson Elementary School have been reviewing the Music Class Rules (through the song of the same name!). To hear the "Music Class Rules" song, click on the 'Rules' tab which is located up above! (I'm thinking of rewriting the Music Class Rules song because I can't think of the last time I had students sitting in a chair??? Hmmm...)

Students have been focusing on the musical concept of beat in the basement of our Music House so that we will have a strong foundation for the rest of the floors (rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and others).

In addition to general music, third, fourth and fifth grade students will have the opportunity to sing in an 'exploratory' chorus that is still offered during the school day! This is an exciting new approach that all third, fourth and fifth grade students will have the opportunity to participate in!

I have new postings nearly every day! Some of these posting are songs we've enjoyed singing, or playing, some are clips that tie into our music lessons, and others are my thoughts and/or reflections on what's going on musically in and out of the Music Room and all around the world, so... please check it out!
